Ⅰ. Introduction:

The Utility Scale Solar Summit is the pivotal place for Middle Eastern, European and North Africa utilities to further develop new relationships to win business.

The strategic programme will be led by utility solar companies from the region, international EPCs, O&Ms from the international community. Experts showcasing their products will experience tailored sessions that focus on business development and knowledge sharing of the latest industry trends.

Ⅱ. Conference Topics:

● Ministry of Energy and Water launched the Expression of Interest to build PV farms as part of the National Renewable Energy Action Plan – interest is high with 265 companies submitting proposals

● Government needs to address power needs due to impact of Syria’s crisis on the Lebanese power sector

● Trust in technology and local engineering companies to support bigger systems has increased – leading to more investor confidence in larger investments in utility scale solar PV

● Saudi Arabia last week invited bids for their 300MW utility scale solar project

● Dubai awaits bids for its CSP solar project

● Egypt has recently signed PPA and their long-awaited Feed in tariff utility scale Solar PV projects will be tendered in August

● Jordan is set for this second round with the first round and PPA agreements being signed last week
