GSL Energy today announced it has supplied a 16KVA 40KWH LiFePO4 lithium battery storage system with automatic heating function in Canada for a home residential project. This system consists of GSL 40kwh LiFePO4 lithium batteries and GSL 16kva smart hybrid inverters.
Mr. Steve, a Canada client, contacted GSL Energyabout his electricity demand of installing a lithium battery storage system in order to build a personal power plant. "GSL's LiFePO4 lithium batteries have a good performance on the lifespan and safety. It can store the extra solar energy during day time. Together with our smart hybrid on/off grid inverter, this system can help customers discharge batteries at night when there is no grid electricity. Additionally, considering the winter in Canada is cold, we added a self-heating function for batteries. It's suitable for Canada, Russia and other cold areas. When the temperature is below zero , the battery can use its own power for heating up to about 0℃ ~10℃.", said by Mr. Jim Deng, CEO of GSL ENERGY.
Canada is often referred to as the great white north, and with good reason – the winters are snowy and cold. Canadian winters can be freezing cold. Temperatures throughout winter are usually below or around zero degrees Celsius, and tend to linger between -5 and -15 degrees Celsius.
And cold temperatures slow down the chemical reactions that take place inside batteries, hampering their performance and reducing their discharge capacity. This means that the maximum amount of energy that the battery gives off will drop in lower temperatures. This is true of all batteries across the board. Lithium iron phosphate batteries do face one major problem in cold weather; they can't be charged at freezing temperatures. You should never attempt to charge a LiFePO4 battery if the temperature is below 0°C (32°F).
In order to overcome the disadvantage in cold weather of LiFePO4 battery, GSL Energydeveloped a new technology of batteries, which is a self-heating function. The intelligent self-heating function will start operating automatically once the battery's core temperature drops below 5°C (41°F), effortlessly keeping your battery charged in cold environments. The lithium battery has low temperature charging and discharging protection function. When the temperature is below 0°C, it will stop charging. When the temperature is below -20°C, it will stop discharging.
"I had been considering a solar installation for some time. GSL Energywere the supplier that paid the most attention to my needs and questions and answered promptly when asked any questions. I would recommend that anyone thinking about installing a solar battery storage system consider this supplier to speak to about your requirements.", said by Mr. Steve.
