On Dec. 10, 2012, GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Limited announced that it will arrange the procurement of modules for two 75 megawatts (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in South Africa, the largest solar projects ever built in South Africa. The project solar modules are made from wafers from GCL-Poly.
The projects were selected by the South Africa Department of Energy (DOE) in the first round of bids under the South Africa Renewable Energy Program. Both projects have executed 20-year power purchase agreements with Eskom, the South African Power Utility.
"This transaction not only facilitates additional sales channel for our wafers, it also demonstrates our ability to provide integrated PV system solution in the global market" said Mr. Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of GCL-Poly.
