    January 10, 2013 – The insolvency proceedings for restructuring centrotherm photovoltaics AG are entering a decisive phase. The responsible county court in Ulm has laid down the insolvency plan after completing its examination, and it is therefore also now available for viewing for the parties involved in the proceedings. In addition, the court has set January 29, 2013 as the date for discussing and voting on the insolvency plan.

    REC to Reduce Siemens-Based Solar Grade Silicon Production at Moses Lake, WA Facility

    January 10, 2013 - Due to continued market and price pressures for solar grade polysilicon, Renewable Energy Corporation ASA (REC) has chosen to temporarily reduce Siemens-based solar grade silicon production at its Moses Lake, WA, USA, facility by 2,400 MT. The production reduction will be specific to the Polysilicon I facility where the solar grade chunk material is produced. Granular solar grade polysilicon from REC's proprietary Fluid Bed Reactor process and electronic grade polysilicon production at the Butte facility are scheduled to produce 20,000 MT of polysilicon in 2013.

    Jan. 10, 2013 - Duke Energy Renewables has completed construction of a 12.5-megawatt (MW) commercial-scale solar power project in Beaufort County, N.C., near Bath and Washington. The Washington White Post solar farm was placed into service in December 2012.

    Conergy Installs 500kW Solar Project in the Canary Islands

    9 January 2013 – Conergy is building further solar plants on the Canary Islands. Following the installation of a roof-top plant in the Canaries at a coffee roasting company, which is the largest on-roof installation in the Canaries at 1.7 megawatt, and another, 500 kilowatt project on Grand Canary in 2012, three further roof-top plants totalling 500 kilowatt are being constructed for a fruit and vegetable wholesaler in Antigua on the volcanic island of Fuerteventura. Conergy is acting as general contractor of the plants and is also supplying the components.

    Sempra U.S. Gas & Power Energizes First Phase Of Arizona Solar Project

    Jan. 9, 2013 - Sempra U.S. Gas & Power today announced that it has completed construction of Mesquite Solar 1, the first 150-megawatt (MW) phase of the company's Mesquite Solar complex in Arlington, Ariz., about 40 miles west of Phoenix. The photovoltaic solar energy project is now operational and ranks among the largest in the U.S., generating enough clean electricity to power about 56,000 homes.

    First Solar Acquires Chilean Project Developer Solar Chile

    Jan. 09, 2013 - First Solar, Inc. and Fundación Chile today announced that First Solar has acquired Solar Chile. This culminates a strategic working alliance the two companies formed in Oct. 2011. Solar Chile has a portfolio of early- to mid-stage utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) power projects totaling about 1.5 gigawatts (GW) in Regions I, II, III, and XV in northern Chile, including the Atacama Desert region, which offers the highest solar irradiance in the world.
